Wellington has been named the most popular city in New Zealand for advertising by a major global online advertising company.
The data firm Nielsen Media Research said that Wellington ranked as the most-adviser city in the country with more than 3.5 million users in the week ending 30 November.
It also ranked as being a popular city for the country’s media sector.
The Nielsen report comes as the Government has warned of a “dangerous” new digital trend that will lead to a rise in “fake news” in the wake of Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The report says Wellington’s advertising industry was in the spotlight in December after it came under fire for failing to prevent a series of online ads being linked to fake news stories.
